EcoFootprint is designed in line with the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The calculator can be used anonymously and does not require users to create an account.
Data collected
The calculator may collect the following information:
Calculator inputs entered by the user (for example, energy use, transport, travel)
An optional email address, if you choose the “Resume later” feature
Providing an email address is voluntary.”
How data is used
Data are used solely to:
Calculate your carbon footprint
Display results and summaries to you
Allow you to resume your calculation, if you choose to use this feature
Anonymous use of the calculator is fully supported.
Data are not used for marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making
Data storage
Calculator inputs and resume information may be stored locally in your browser to support the resume function.
If data are submitted or emailed, they are stored securely and accessed only by authorised personnel for that purpose.
Data sharing
No personal data are sold, shared, or disclosed to third parties.
Any use of results for reporting or improvement of the tool is carried out only in aggregated and anonymised form, where applicable.
Voluntary participation
Participation is voluntary. You may use the calculator without providing any personal information and may stop using the tool at any time.
